Wike-Fubara Feud: South-South Governors Protest, Boycott NGF, NEC Meetings

Governors from Nigeria’s South-South region have announced plans to boycott all Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) meetings, including the National Economic Council (NEC).

This is connected to the worsening feud between Nigeria’s Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and immediate past governor of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and his estranged godson and successor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The forum cited dissatisfaction with the forum’s failure to protect its members, particularly the Rivers State Governor from attacks by the FCT minister.

The governors expressed outrage over Wike’s recent comments and actions, which they say target PDP governors, including Governor Fubara.

They are calling on President Bola Tinubu to either caution or remove Wike from office to restore confidence in the NGF’s leadership and prevent further instability in Rivers State.

A source told Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) that.the governors are incensed that the NGF has not addressed concerns raised by its members, particularly regarding the treatment of Governor Fubara while also expressing a lack of confidence in the leadership of NGF Chairman, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whom they accuse of failing to unify the forum.

They also accused Wike of being involved in attempts to destabilize Rivers State and unlawfully remove Fubara from office as well as the minister’s inflammatory remarks aimed at PDP governors, especially Governor Fubara.
