Akwa Ibom Correctional Service Gets New controller Okonkwo

The Akwa Ibom State Correctional Service said it has received a new controller, Frank Okonkwo.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the state service, ASC Richard Metong, in Uyo on Thursday, said the incoming controller had served as the officer in charge of various custodial centres, including Ogwashukwu, Badagry, and Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centres among others, adding that with his vast experience, he would be able to discharge his duties effectively.

His words: “CC Okonkwo has assumed duty as the new Controller of Corrections in Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service following the promotion of CC Julius Ezugwu to the rank of Assistant Controller General of Corrections, and his subsequent retirement.”

In his final address, outgoing Ezugwu urged the officers and men to extend their support to the new controller.

In his maiden address, Okonkwo, the new controller, called for maximum support and cooperation from the officers and men of the command even as he promised to build on the achievements of his predecessor while also introducing new initiatives to address the challenges facing the service in the state.
