Gunmen reportedly kidnap PDP chieftain in Oyo

Gunmen have reportedly abducted Otunba Benedict Akika, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an ally of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

The incident occurred late Wednesday night at Olohundaaba in the Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.

While details remain sketchy, unconfirmed reports suggest that Akika, popularly known as “Benee,” was kidnapped at his residence along the Akobo Ojurin-Olohunda road in Ibadan.

Additionally, there are reports that one person was killed during the incident, though this has not yet been officially confirmed.

As of now, authorities are working on the case, but efforts to reach the Oyo State Police Command for confirmation have been unsuccessful.

The Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, has not responded to calls for comment. Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
