The Akwa Ibom government is set to launch training for permanent secretaries, and directors with the requisite strategies for good governance and managerial competencies, through the Office of the Head of Civil Service.
The Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) in a five-day training for Permanent Secretaries and Directors starting Monday, 5th August, 2024.
The Workshop on Good Governance and Leadership will take place from Monday, 5th to Friday, 9th August 2024, for Permanent Secretaries and from Monday, 12th to Friday, 16th August 2024, for Directors.
His Excellency, the Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, will declare the workshop open on Monday, 5th August 2024, at the Ibom LED Centre, E-Library, IBB Way, by 10 a.m., with lectures commencing daily at 9 a.m.
The Director-General of ASCON, Mrs. Cecilia Gayya, will lead other seasoned resource persons from the reputable institution in Lagos to Uyo for the lecture series.
Interacting with reporters in his office about the upcoming workshop, the Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, explained that the training modules are designed to equip Permanent Secretaries and Directors with necessary leadership strategies for good organizational governance, and to refresh and sharpen their managerial skills.
He further informed that the training will deepen participants’ understanding of the ARISE Agenda and position them for greater comprehension, formulation, and implementation of government policies, programs, and projects. He noted that the Governor’s decision to bring ASCON to the state was to enable more staff to partake in the training.
Elder Essien expressed his gratitude to the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for prioritizing workers’ welfare and capacity development.
He charged participants to take advantage of the training opportunity to sharpen their skills for optimal service delivery.
The Head of Service also assured of workers’ continued dedication and support to the Governor Umo Eno-led administration to ensure the actualization of the ARISE Agenda.
Participants in the training are to be seated by 9 a.m. on Monday, before the arrival of the Governor.
