Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, has said, Akwa Ibom is a shining example of Peace and Unity in Nigeria.
The Commissioner stressed that there has been consistent peace in the state over the years, particularly under the leadership of Governor Umo Eno, whom he said is exuding peaceful disposition in the State.
Sir Charles Udoh who was speaking over the weekend in his home ward, Ikot Okubo, Uyo Ward 8, during the just concluded PDP elective ward congress, remarked that for such exercise to hold without unrest or issues threatening the peace of the State, confirms the general peaceful conduct of the people.
“This congress has demonstrated that Akwa Ibom State is a shining example of peace and unity in Nigeria. The peaceful conduct of this congress is a testament to the leadership of our Governor, Umo Eno, who has always emphasized the importance of peace, unity and cooperation. We are committed to ensuring that our state remains a beacon of hope for others to follow”, Sir Charles Udoh said.
He noted that the administration of Governor Eno is “dedicated to maintaining the state’s role as a guiding light for others to emulate”, adding that Akwa Ibom is growing largely due to the peace entrenched and sustained in the state which the administration is determined to maintain.
Making a case for tourism growth in the state, Udoh averred that Akwa Ibom being Nigeria’s Tourism State of the Year, is relentless in leveraging on the peaceful environment of the state to grow the sector, stressing that investors can only go to a safe and peaceful place like Akwa Ibom which he said, is a safe heaven.
The Tourism Boss charged the people of Uyo and the state in general to eschew behaviours that are not in consonant with peace, maintaining that as a peaceful state, tourism will thrive and investors will always see Akwa-Ibom as a safe haven for investment.
