Police Free 10 pregnant women from baby factory in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has freed 10 pregnant women from a baby factory ran by a 56-year-old suspect, Eunice Eze.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara stated this while briefing journalists at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia in Uyo on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

Ayilara said that the suspect, who runs a baby factory at the World Bank Estate in Owerri, was arrested on July 15, 2024, through actionable intelligence.

The Commissioner of Police said the suspect specialises in stealing babies and pregnant women from Akwa Ibom State through her agent.

“On 15/7/2024 at about 4:30pm, based on actionable intelligence, one Mrs Eunice Eze ‘f’ age 56yrs was arrested for running a baby factory at World Bank Estate in Owerri,” the CP stated.

“The suspect specializes in stealing babies and pregnant women from Akwa Ibom State through her agent, one Ability Henry Tom. Ten (10) pregnant women were rescued.”

CP Ayilara thanked the state government for their support, sister security agencies and good-spirited members of the public, whose credible and timely information led to the arrest.

He said the command looks forward to a more formidable collaboration from all as it strives to keep Akwa Ibom safer and more peaceful.
