Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has come to the aid of a widow, Madam Comfort Etim Edet from Idua Afaha Edouk Village in Oron Local Government Area as she has been selected to benefit from the next phase of the Arise Compassionate home.
Madam Edet, who lost her husband during a communal crisis, has been struggling to provide shelter for her seven children, as her thatched house had collapsed, forcing her to seek refuge at neighbours houses whenever it rains.
Governor Eno through his Special Assistant on Humanitarian Affairs, Prince Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, visited the family and announced that they have been selected as beneficiaries of the next phase of the Arise Compassionate Home.
The team including Personal Assistant on Humanitarian Services, Mrs. Mfon Israel, while handing over the contract documents urged the resource person to begin the project immediately inline with the specification and ensure it is completed within two months.
On his part, the Village Head, Obong Effiong Edet, commended the Governor’s kindness, saying it was unprecedented in their community’s history for a government to reach out and assist a widow in need.
In her response, Madam Comfort Etim, thanked the Governor for his compassionate disposition and intervention and prayed God’s blessings on him.
