Impeccable sources have given an account on how two kidnapped journalists, Alhaji Abdulgafar Alabelewe and Abdulraheem Audu, were successfully rescued in a daring operation by a specialized team of Elite Commandos deployed from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The journalists, who were abducted from their homes in Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna, exactly one week ago, were rescued on July 13, 2024.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and Security analyst in the Lake Chad region that the rescue operation was carried out by a joint team of security and intelligence agencies, coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). The team, which comprises some of the best commandos across the security and intelligence agencies, conducted a meticulous intelligence gathering operation before executing the rescue.
After several days of painstaking intelligence gathering, the Special squad of elite commandos received the green light from National Counter Terrorism Center to move into a strategic position to commence the rescue of the kidnapped victims.
Consequently, the new tight-knit Seal team undertaking highest stake mission stormed the bandits ‘ enclave at about 1630hrs and unleashed much havoc on terrorists.
Several terrorists were sent to their maker while the surviving terrorists scampered for safety as they were no match for the lethal ONSA Anti-Kidnapping Fusion Cell coordinated team.
The rescued journalists and their families were examined at about 2200hrs by the ONSA medical team before being released to reunite with their loved ones.
It will be recalled that the Commando team has recorded resounding successes in their operations, most notably on June 7th 2024, where 16 people were rescued in Shinkafi and Tsafe LGAs.
Despite the treacherous terrain, characterized by rocks and thick forested vegetation as well as weather conditions, the brave team stormed the terrorists enclave, nutrialised several fighters and successfully rescued some of the abducted victims back to Abuja unhurt.
