Akwa United ended the 2023/2024 season as a survivor. They defeated Rivers United, in their magnificent, Godswill Akpabio international home Stadium by 3-1, with goals from the boots of Ubong Friday and Sani Suleiman.

When contacted, an elated Chairman, Elder Paul Bassey said he gives God “ ALL the glory for the miraculous escape. It is bad enough that we had to leave it till the last match to escape. There was so much tension, drama and excitement. I owe my boss the Hon. Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports Sir, Monday Ebong Uko for supporting me hundred percent and believing in me.

SPORTING LAGOS GETS RELEGATED, RETURNS TO NNL

Sporting Lagos FC. lost their last match against Shooting Stars, and because of Akwa Uniteds’ triumph over Rivers United, they were relegated, back to the NNL.

It will be reported that, Sporting Lagos got promoted to the NPFL just this 2023/2024 season. They emerged winners of the Naija Super 8 In 2023 with their superlative form, but it seemed not to be good enough for the NPFL.

They get relegated from the NPFL with Gombe United, Heartland FC. and Doma United.

ENUGU RANGERS LIFTS NPFL TROPHY IN JOS

The Champions of the NPFL 2023/2024 season Enugu Rangers defeated Gombe United by 2-1 on Sunday, June 23 and lifted the NPFL trophy in a neutral ground, Jos.

Enugu Rangers continued their winning streak against relegated Gombe United side by 2-1, with a cash price of 150 million naira.

The Champions plan to take the trophy home to Enugu, for Grand celebrations on Monday, June 24
