The Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru Abubakar says, the establishment and Training of Maritime Security Forces of the Deep Blue Project is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to protect and safeguard the integrity of the Nation’s waterways.
The Minister disclosed this on Thursday in a keynote address he delivered at the graduation ceremony of the Maritime Security Unit of the Deep Blue Project, held in 5 Battalion Nigerian Army Elele, Rivers State.
In a statement made available to journalists by personal assistant to the minister on media and publicity Malam Mati Ali, the minister urged officers and men to fully prepare to cope with the challenges of illegal bunkering and pipeline vandalization and other criminality in the nations water ways.
According to the statement Alhaji Badaru stated that illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalisation, piracy, illegal fishing and water tress passing among others are given sleepless night to the country.
Also in the statement the Minister said, ” I am optimistic that, the graduands who have gone through the professional combat training will confidently deal with these challenges to bring peace and economic prosperity of our great Nation”.
Badaru while congratulating the graduated Maritime Security officers, he also expressed his warm regards and gratitude to Minister of Maritime and Blue Economy, NIMASA and the Facilitators for their unwavering commitments ,
