Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has given a fresh impetus to the Uyo-Ewet gully erosion reclamation and beautification project, ordering the immediate relocation of families and demolition of structures within the project area. This move is aimed at facilitating the smooth implementation of the project plan, which has reached an advanced stage.
During a recent visit to the project site, Governor Umo Eno expressed his delight at the pace of work and assured that the completed project will provide a world-class recreational facility for children and adults alike. The Governor’s vision is to create wealth from waste by reclaiming the once inaccessible and life-threatening ravine, and converting it into a scenic atmosphere with pruned trees and forests.
The Managing Director of the contracting firm, Bulletine Construction Company Limited, Chief Faysal Harb, revealed that phase one of the recreational park, with a golf course, football pitch, lawn tennis court, basketball, volleyball, and children’s playground, among others, is taking shape.
The project has made significant progress since the Governor’s first visit a few months ago, when the Udo Inwang Street axis of the site was completely collapsed at the Etim Okon Usanga intersection. The collapsed and inaccessible areas have now been restored, and the extension added to the contract to prevent the Uyo Custodial Centre from collapse is also nearing completion.
Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to this project demonstrates his administration’s dedication to transforming Akwa Ibom State into a hub for tourism and economic growth. The Uyo Recreational Park and Ravine Reclamation Project is poised to become a landmark achievement, showcasing the state’s potential for innovative and sustainable development.
As the project nears completion, the people of Akwa Ibom State and beyond can look forward to a world-class recreational facility that will provide a serene atmosphere for relaxation and entertainment. Governor Umo Eno’s vision for a transformed Akwa Ibom State is taking shape, and this project is a testament to his administration’s commitment to delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
