A’Ibom Paramount Ruler Freed after N50m ransom

The Paramount Ruler of Mbo, His Royal Majesty Ogwong Okon Asukwo Abang, who was kidnapped seven days ago, has been released by his abductors after a ransom of N50 million was paid, WatchmanPost reports.

Sources, confirmed to WatchmanPost that the royal father was released yesterday, Sunday, May 26, 2024, and was immediately taken to a specialist hospital for urgent medical attention.

The Paramount Ruler was kidnapped from his palace in Mbo Local Government Area on May 19, 2024, during which his wife, Her Royal Majesty Obonganwan Hannah Okon Abang, was shot and injured.

She has been receiving treatment at a hospital since then.

However, security operatives have since been deployed to the area to ensure the safety of the royal family and the community.

The release of the Paramount Ruler has brought relief to the people of Mbo, who have been in a state of anxiety since his abduction.

The incident has also raised concerns about the security situation in the area and the need for increased measures to protect citizens.

The police and other security agencies have been working to apprehend the kidnappers and bring them to justice.
