Akwa Ibom FA boosts morale of Ibom Angels FC with encouraging visit, support

On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, the Akwa Ibom State Football Association (AKFA) board, led by Chairman Samuel Umoh, visited Ibom Angels FC during their training session at the Uyo Township Stadium.

This visit, part of AKFA’s ongoing state-wide tour, aimed to bolster the team’s morale and support their preparations for the upcoming season.

Ibom Angels FC, the only state-owned female football team in Akwa Ibom, is gearing up for competition in the second tier of women’s football in Nigeria. Their main objective is to secure promotion to the First Division, a goal strongly supported by AKFA.

During the visit, Chairman Umoh and his board members engaged with the team, stressing the importance of discipline and professionalism. Umoh encouraged the players to strive for excellence and make Akwa Ibom State proud in the forthcoming Women’s Championship playoffs.

“We are here to support you and to encourage you to aim for the highest standards,” Umoh said. “Your success is our success, and we are committed to providing you with the necessary support to achieve your goals.”

To underline their commitment, the AKFA board made a cash donation to the team. Umoh assured the players and coaching staff that the Football Association would continue to provide ongoing support and encouragement throughout the season.

Since being elected and inaugurated in April 2024, the AKFA board has been actively engaging with all football teams in the state. Following their visit to Ibom Angels FC, the board met with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) to discuss strategies for further promoting and supporting football in Akwa Ibom.

The Samuel Umoh-led AKFA is dedicated to fostering a strong football culture in the state. This includes liaising with key stakeholders and ensuring that teams at all levels receive the necessary attention and support to succeed.
