Akwa Ibom CP begins Command’s familiarisation tour, solicits stakeholders’ support to curb crime

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, began tour of Police Divisions within the Command, during which he appealed for support by stakeholders in order to curb crime.

Communities visited on Wednesday were those in Ikot Abasi, Eastern Obolo and Mkpat Enin Local Government Areas.

The purpose of the tour, according to the command’s spokesman, ASP Timfon John, is to assess the conditions of the Divisions and hold meetings with stakeholders in the different communities.

CP Ayilara assured the communities that the Command under his leadership would continue to work towards safeguarding the rights of citizens of the state by the establishment of Police Complaint Response Unit.

CP Ayilara also interacted with Police Officers within the divisions he visited, charging them on the need to be diligent and committed to service.

He warned against unprofessional conduct by officers and men, saying that the Force’s leadership would not tolerate such.

The tour continued on Thursday May 16, 2024 with visits to Onna, Ibeno and Eket Local Government Areas.
