President Tinubu appoints Ekperikpe as co-chairman of NCDMB governing council

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has appointed the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, as the co-Chairman of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

President Tinubu had in December 2023 appointed the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, as Chairman of the NCDMB, along with other eight board members, including the Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Ogbe.

A statement issued on Thursday, May 9, by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said the appointment aims to enhance the approval process for unique oil and gas projects and ensure effective oversight of the gas sector.

“In line with his avowed commitment to establish a more efficient, targeted, and consistent approval process for unique oil and gas projects in the country, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), as the Co-Chairman of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

“This is also to further ensure effective oversight of the gas aspect of the nation’s assets.

“The President remains committed to unlocking Nigeria’s immense gas potential to stimulate industrial development, job creation, and sustainable economic growth”, the statement said.

As Co-Chairman of the NCDMB Governing Council, Mr. Ekpo will work closely with other stakeholders to drive the development of Nigeria’s gas resources and ensure that the country maximizes its benefits from the sector.
