The Transition Chairman of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, Hon. Dcns. Otobong Aaron has reaffirmed her commitment towards ensuring the ideals of the current administration is felt in the Local Government Area.
She made this pledge while hosting members of the Senate Committee on States and Local Government Areas, in conjunction with the Inspectorate and Management, Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs at her office on Tuesday 23rd, April 2024.
The Nsit Ibom Council Boss reeled her numerous life-touching projects like the donation of First Aid Kits to Schools, Borehole Installation to communities, Monthly Cash empowerment to constituents, Maternity Kits to pregnant women and many others to the commendation of the visiting team.
Her words “I am a very passionate person and I do not play politics with helping people. As I took over power, I vowed to impact the lives of my people as their Chairman. If you look around, there’s an ongoing construction of an administrative block that will completed soon.
“The farms around this Council are in line with the ARISE Agenda of Our loving father, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pst. Umo Eno. So we have cultivated these crops to ensure our people never run out of food in the face of the current economic decline.”
The Senate Committee on States and LGs who were on a tour of projects undertaken by the Chairman since assumption of office praised Hon. Aaron for her unique style response to the Agricultural Exploration, judging from the massive cultivated lands in the LG secretariat, adding that food sufficiency will be a real deal in the months to come.
The team lead, Engr. Kayode Adebayo disclosed the purpose of their visit to include an on-the-spot assessment of projects and to adjudge their relevance to the grassroots.
He noted that there has been agitation for Local Government autonomy and other pressing issues on the Senate floor which necessitated a window assessment of a possible effective implementation of those bills by Local Government administrators if passed into laws.
His words “ We need to know how best Local Government Bosses will handle Local Government funds if autonomy is given, how beneficial are the projects executed so far to the people, how far they have gone to stimulate and generate IGR and so on.
“Our mandate is also to see how these projects deserve commendations and awards.
“In Nsit Ibom, we are really impressed with the magnificent projects on ground and they are unique and we urge the council boss to keep them coming”.
