The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Youth Development, Rep. Martins Esin, has commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State for his generous act of building a 3-bedroom house for the parents of a female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The commendation comes after a viral video surfaced showing the Corps member explaining that instead of building a house for the family, her father chose to sponsor her education.

Governor Umo Eno, moved by the dedication of her father to prioritize his daughter’s education, took swift action to locate the Corps member and her family in neighbouring Cross River State, and approved the construction of a 3-bedroom house for the family as an encouragement for their commitment to girl child education.

Responding to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, Rep. Martins Esin who represents Oron Federal Constituency in the National Assembly hailed the governor’s gesture as a shining example of leadership that values education and supports the empowerment of girls.

“His Excellency’s actions serve as a reminder of the transformative power of leadership that is rooted in empathy, compassion, and a dedication to building a better future for all citizens,” the lawmaker stated.

He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting gender equality and fostering a society where every child, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities to pursue their dreams.

The commendation from the House Committee on Youth Development highlights the ripple effect of the governor’s action in inspiring others to prioritize education and support the aspirations of young girls across the country.

Governor Eno’s compassionate response to the viral video has earned him widespread praise, both locally and nationally.
