Akwa Ibom Govt To Launch Food Security Program In 29 LGAs, Today

…as Gov Eno presents android tablets to 368 Aides

Barely one week after the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno flagged off a food security program in Itu and Uyo local government areas at itam market , other 29 local government areas of the State will today , Tuesday April 2, 2024, witness the official launch of the scheme, simultaneously.

The programme, an initiative of the State government aimed at dolling out staple food to the vulnerable, is a short-term intervention scheme that will work along with the Back-to-Farm Initiative to ensure availability, affordability & price reduction of food items in the markets.

Meanwhile, the State Bulk Purchase Agency ahead of the flag off, has perfected engagement with the start-up agents and delivered the first batch of vouchers to all local government areas
while android tablets have also been distributed to the 368 Ward Personal Assistants to the Governor to aid seamless distribution of the vouchers to the targeted beneficiaries.

However, this scheme is coming at a time when the vulnerable members of the state needed it mostly, as a shield against the scourging economic situation plaguing the nation.
