In a bid to cushion the burden of raising multiple birth children on families, the wife of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Patience Eno through her initiative, PatCare for multiple birth families, a subset of her pet project, Golden Initiative For All GIFA, has provided support to mothers of quadruplets and quintuplets in the State.

Pastor Patience gave the support on March 27, 2024 when she paid a visit to the mothers of the quadruplets at Ibom Specialist Hospital, ISH and the quintuplets at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH, both in Uyo.


The Governor’s wife who was represented by a team from her NGO, Golden Initiative for All, GIFA led by Pastor Anne Abraham, said her resolve to provide essential care packages for nursing mothers and their children, is a reflection of her commitment towards tackling maternal and child mortality in the state.

Considering the current spike in multiple births recorded in the state, the PatCare for multiple birth families programme which is embedded in the Maternal and Child Healthcare of GIFA, is poised at lessening the burden of providing for multiple birth children on families she said.

The Chief Medical Director, Ibom Specialist Hospital, Dr. Ini Etukudo leading the visitors around the facility applauded the governor’s wife, Pastor Patience Eno for her initiative to identify with multiple birth families while also stating that the birth of the quadruplets is the first recorded in the hospital since its inception.

In her remarks, Mrs Rachael Ekomobong of Afaha Obong, Abak Local Government Area, a first time mother who welcomed her four baby boys, expressed gratitude  to the Governor’s wife for the massive show of love and deeming it fit to visit her and her babies, prayed for God’s bountiful blessings on Pastor Patience.

In the company of the CMD on the tour were:, Mr Thompson Ikpe, Director of Administration, Mrs Ekaette Esset, Head of Corporate Affairs, Dr. Emma-imoh Essien, the matron who took delivery of the quadruplets among other health personnel.

Similarly, the First Lady made a stop over at the UUTH to visit another set of multiple birth babies.

The elated mother of the quintuplets, a set of four girls and one boy, Mrs Mbuotidem Dan who hails from Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, appreciated the Governor’s wife for her motherly disposition, being a mother to all indeed and yielding to her call for assistance, she prayed God to reward her labour of love.

Also in appreciation, the father of the quintuplets Mr Imo Dan, expressed gratitude to God for blessing them beyond their expectations as well as the first lady of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Patience Eno for her immense support which he described as soothing particularly in this season of increased responsibility.

The Governor’s wife provided PatCare packs to all the babies and their mothers as well as financial supports to ameliorate their financial needs.
