The Federal Government has declared tomorrow, Friday, March 29 and Monday, April 1 as public holidays to mark this year’s Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced the holidays on behalf of the government in a statement by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary Aishetu Ndayako yesterday in Abuja.
The minister said Easter, beyond religious significance, promotes values of love, forgiveness, and compassion, which are essential for social cohesion and harmony.
He urged Christians to imbibe these virtues as they are capable of impacting positively on the socio-economic development of Nigeria as well as foster unity, reduce conflicts and encourage cooperation among the citizens.
