Senator Aniekan Bassey of the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District has lauded the food security initiative of Governor Umo Eno as driven by the Bulk Purchase Agency.
Senator Bassey, who witnessed the official launch of the free food voucher program for the vulnerable and the neediest by Governor Eno at Itam market in Itu Local Government Area, thanked him for prioritizing the wellbeing of the people over personal gains.
He also commended Governor Eno for his unparalleled commitment to commerce and for making available the sum of N1.5 billion as interest loans to traders through the Ibom Fadama Micro Finance Bank.
Recall that the key responsibility of the Agency is to provide free staple food items : Garri, Rice, and Beans to the most vulnerable through the Social Register.
The event was also witnessed by the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Senator Ekong Sampson of the Akwa Ibom South, Speaker Udeme Otong, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, and other top government officials.
