Satellites Target African Games Gold, Face Uganda Tomorrow

Ghana’s Black Satellites head trainer, Desmond Offei, has stated that his side has targeted winning gold at the African Games after reaching the final of the competition.

The Ghanaians posted a 1-0 win over U-20 African champions Senegal in the semi finals at the Accra Stadium on Tuesday.

The hard fought victory pitted the Satellites against Uganda in the final game tomorrow, Friday, March 22, 2024.

The Uganda Hippos will be hoping to avenge the Black Satellites at the 40,000-capacity Accra Sports Stadium.

It was Michael Ephson’s late strike that separated the two sides, ensuring that Ghana stay in contention for a gold medal at the tournament.

And in a post- match interview, he said, “The final is for them (the boys). In my opinion, the training is for us (coaches), the match is for the players. The job is done beforehand; the boys are well prepared for this tournament, they keep growing and their mentality is incredible.”

He added, “They are very hungry, very humble towards the final, it’s a final we are going to enjoy it 100 percent.

“The first half, we didn’t create enough chances, not enough clear-cut chances but we dug deep, and eventually we got rewarded. My boys are not wasteful, we had one clear chance and we finished it. I can’t recall any part of the game where we squandered any chances.”
