Troops Overpower Boko Haram Terrorists In Borno, Recover Arms, Ammunition

Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF, have overpowered several Boko Haram terrorists during a gunfight in Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State, resulting in the terrorists fleeing, while troops recovered some of their arms and ammunition.

A statement by MNJTF spokesman, Lt. Col Abdullahi Abubakar said with the operation, the Joint Task Force has once again affirmed its commitment to neutraliding the threat of terrorism in the Lake Chad Basin region.

According to Abdullahi, “The successful clearance operation was conducted by troops of Sector 3 (5 Brigade) Nigeria on February 25, 2024.

“The operation was initiated in response to intelligence reports indicating the presence of Boko Haram terrorists in the vicinity of Alayi Bulanti, within the Mobbar council of Borno State.

“Deployed from their base in Damasak, the valiant troops undertook a fighting patrol that brought them into contact with the terrorist elements.

“Upon contact, troops engaged the threat with superior firepower, effectively subduing the insurgents.

“The decisive action of the troops resulted in the recovery of terrorists weaponry, including two AK 47 rifles, five magazines, and a total of 73 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition.

“The Force Commander, Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali congratulated the troops of Sector 3 and charged them to remain resolute towards total clearance of terrorist elements in their area operation.

“He commended the local communities for continued support.”
