The Speaker Zamfara state House of Assembly, Hon Bilyaminu Moriki and six other members at a sitting on Monday have suspended sixteen members of the house who threatened to impeach the speaker of the House last Thursday.
Moving the motion for suspension of the eight lawmakers, the majority leader Hon. Muhammad Mazawaje, said the members were accused of breaking into offices of the clerk of the House and sergeant at arm and destroyed other things at the assembly complex.
The eight members suspended by the House include, Hon Sani Abdullahi, Hon Nasiru Mar, Hon Bashir Abubakar, Hon. Aminu Keta, Hon. Faruk Musa Dosara, Hon. Bashir Aliyu, Hon. Ibrahim T. Tukur and Hon. Shamsuddeen Hassan.
The house Leader described the sitting of the eight legislative last Thursday as illegal, stressing that their act to destroyed some offices of assembly to conduct an illegal sitting has gone contrary to legislative rules.
The eight members along with others under the leadership of what they described as Speaker Pro-Tempo had last Thursday in their sitting suspended the speaker of the House Bilyaminu Moriki and the closed down of the House indefinitely.
The 6 lawmakers in their separate presentations at Monday’s sitting also accused some top politicians outside the state of sponsoring the eighteen lawmakers to disrupt the good image of the House as well as that of Governor Dauda Lawal administration.
They also called on the constituents of the affected lawmakers and people in the state to disregard the acts of the seventeen other lawmakers that making news round that the speaker of the house has been suspended.
