Akwa Ibom Governor Pastor Umo Eno has announced a significant investment of N100 billion in the development of key infrastructures within the Oron Federal Constituency. This initiative includes the construction of 10 strategic roads spanning the 10 Federal Constituencies of the state.
During the flag-off ceremony for the dualization of the 13.5 km Okopedi-Oron Road by the East-West Road (Phase 11), Governor Eno emphasized the importance of timely project completion, urging the contractors, CCECC, to adhere to the 24-month delivery timeline.
In a bid to promote transparency and gather community feedback, the Governor pledged to kick off Town Hall meetings starting June, providing a platform to showcase the administration’s achievements and address the needs of various communities.
Furthermore, Governor Eno visited the General Hospital in Iquita Oron, where free medical services are being offered in collaboration with Hensek Integrated Services, a local road and engineering firm. Additionally, he initiated the dualization of the 13.6km Unyenge-Universal Energy Road leading to the Ibom Deep Seaport, featuring a 30m & 45m span bridge and a spur to Affi-Uda Village in Mbo Local Government Area.
As part of his commitment to revitalizing transportation options, the Governor awarded a contract to the Nigerian Navy for the construction of ferries to reinstate the ferry services that were popular in the region during the 70s and 80s. His vision also includes transforming Oron Beach into a tourist destination.
