Vice-Captain William Troost-Ekong, defender Ola Aina as well as striker Ademola Lookman were the only three Super Eagles stars that made the exclusive 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Best X1 as the tournament’s Technical Study Group(TSG) leaving out Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen.

Troost-Ekong and Aina were recognised for their defensive prowess in competition.

While centre-back William Troost-Ekong, who was named Player of the Tournament scored three goals for the Super Eagles in Cote d’Ivoire, Aina featured in all of Nigeria’s six games in the competition.

Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman scored three goals for the Super Eagles at the AFCON 2023 finals.

Hosts Cote d’Ivoire, the new African champions, have three players named in the Best Xl.

The players are Ghislan Konan, Jean Michael Seri and Franck Kessie.

South Africa’s Rowen Williams and Teboho Mokoena also made the selection as well as Congo Democratic Republic duo, Yoane Wissa and Chancel Mbemba.
