Israel Special Forces Enter Gaza’s Nasser Hospital

Israel’s military says its special forces have gone into the besieged Nasser hospital in southern Gaza.

It says “a precise and limited operation” is under way. It says Hamas fighters are hiding inside and Israeli hostages’ bodies might also be there.

It comes a day after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ordered thousands of displaced people to leave the site.

The hospital is the largest in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Video footage from earlier appears to show medical staff rushing to take patients in stretchers through a corridor filled with smoke.

A spokesman for the Hamas-run health ministry said the Israeli military had demolished the southern wall of the hospital complex and entered that way.

Ashraf al-Qudra said the hospital administration had been asked to transfer all patients, “including intensive care and nursery patients” to an older hospital building.

The BBC is working to verify footage said to be from inside the hospital. (BBC)
