Police Vow To Raid Criminal Hideouts In Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to rid criminal elements off the state.

Speaking in Uyo on Monday, Feburary 12, during the maiden press briefing, the new Commissioner of Police CP Waheed Ayilara disclosed that the command is set to establish a Complain Respond Unit (C.R.U), in line with the orders from Inspector General of Police and the police content act.

Ayilara said when formed, the unit will be operational 247 and will operate in real-time on all social media handles.

He called on citizens to ensure that all complaints lodged on the platform are genuine and not on frivolous issues.

CP Ayilara promised to make the state too hot for criminal elements and their collaborators to live in, vowed to raid criminal hideouts to fish out all criminal elements and ensure peace in the state.

According to him, “I am using this medium to prevail on all criminals and their collaborators in the state to pack your bags and luggage and relocate from the state.”

“It is not going to be business as usual. We shall take the battle to your hideouts and deny you freedom of action anywhere in the state.”

The Police Commissioner stated that to achieve success in the planned action, the Command will collaborate with other security agencies and other critical stakeholders in the state.

Ayilara said that he would tackle unprofessionalism among police officers, noting that “undisciplined officer is a threat not only to the policing family but to the community and the state he serves.”

He appealed to the residents of the state to embrace peace and resist any temptation to resort to violence, threat, or misinformation on social media that may threaten the security of the state.

The Commissioner of Police stressed that under his administration, Akwa Ibom people will be safe and secured, adding that he would do this within the context of the rule of law, professionalism, and utmost respect for fundamental human rights.

“My primary goal is to foster a safe and secure environment for every resident. Together, we will work tirelessly to uphold the rule of law, promote accountability, and ensure the safety of all indigenes and the residents of the state.

“The challenges we may face will be met with resilience, innovation, and a shared dedication to upholding the ideals of justice and security,” the police boss warned.
