In furtherance of his resolve to maintain peace and security in Akwa Ibom State, the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has commissioned a state-of-the-art Security Centre, “Safe City Center” by the Department of State Services.

Speaking at the event, the Governor said the State must remain safe for its residents and a preferred destination for visitors, tourists, investors and others.

He noted that technology has made security management easier and better hence, the State will continue to support security agencies to aquire necessary facilities that will aid their jobs and make them more efficient.

Governor Eno commended the outgoing State Director of DSS, Mr. Mohammad Kaumi for his contributions to the peace and security of the state and for initiating and completing the Safe City Centre.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Magaji Bichi noted that the execution of the project marks another watershed in the use of technological tools to compliment actions against the rapidly-changing security threat profile of the country.

The Director-General who was represented by the outgoing State Director, Mr. Mohammad Kaumi appreciated the State Governor for his support to the DSS and all the security agencies in the State.

He assured that the Service will continue to contribute its quota to ensuring that peace and security in the State is maintained.

Also speaking, the new State Director, Doyin Adetuberu said the event was historical in the security trajectory of the State and assured that the facilities will be optimally used for the good of the State.

At the event were the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Commissioner for Internal Security, General Koko Essien ( Retd), Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga and the MD/CEO, Hensek Integrated Services Limited, Engineer Uwem Okoko among others.
