PDP Clears 10 Aspirants For Edo Governorship

All 10 aspirants who collected Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP’s) governorship nomination forms have been cleared, the party’s National Organising Secretary, Captain Umar Bature (rtd), has said.

The cleared aspirants were at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja to collect their certificate of clearance, following the conclusion of screening by officials.

The party raked in N350 million from the sale of N5million expression of interest form and N30million nomination form bought by each of the 10 candidates.

One of the publicised aspirants, Mr. Sunday Egiele Balogun, was said to have failed to buy the party’s nomination form.

According to the party’s calendar of activities, Edo State PDP governorship primary is scheduled to take place on February 22.

Indications from quarters point towards a possibility that the embattled Deputy Governor, Mr. Philip Shuaibu and Mr. Asue Ighodalo, who is believed to be Governor Godwin Obaseki’s anointed candidate, will remain the two leading contenders till the primary election.

The aspirants are: Omosede Ogbinedion, Anselmu Ojezua Esq, Felix E. Akhabue, Asuerinme Ighodalo, Comrade Philips Shaibu, Arthur Esene, Omoregie Ogbedie Ihama, Prof. Martin Uhomoibhi, Osaro Osaze Onaiwu and Umoru Adizetu Hadizat A. A. A.
