Confederation of African Football (CAF) Player of the Year Victor Osimhen and the rest of the Super Eagles will have to step up their game at the AFCON after they were not selected on the CAF official Best XI for the first round of the competition.
Osimhen was Man of the Match in the Super Eagles 1-0 win over hosts Cote d’Ivoire, while Moses Simon scooped the award after the odd goal win over Guinea Bissau.
However, neither player got on the Best XI for the group stage.
A little consolation for the Super Eagles is that the same fate befell their Round of 16 foes the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
As expected, the Best XI is dominated by Morocco and Senegal.
