The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, will on Sunday, January 21, 2024 storm Eket city for the 2024 Thanksgiving Service.

With the theme; “Great is thy faithfulness,” the service is scheduled to hold at Qua Iboe Church, Ikot Ibiok, Eket LGA.

In a release made by the Chairman, Planning Committee, Mrs Edna Monye, NUJ delegation to Eket Local Government Area will be led by its pragmatic Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Amos Etuk.

Similarly, she assured that preparations for the successful hosting of the 2024 thanksgiving service are in top gear and called on members to turn up en masse as vehicles have been secured to convey them to Eket from the NUJ Press Center on Sunday by 8:00am prompt.

According to her, the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi will serve as the Special Guest of honour, while the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt Hon. Frank Archibong will serve as the chief host.

She further narrated that the choice of Eket for the 2024 thanksgiving service was due to its peaceful and hospitable nature and commended the Council Chairman, Hon. Akaninyene Tommy Ikott for his numerous innovations and sterling leadership qualities.

With this development, Hon Frank Archibong, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt. Hon. Akan Tommey Ikott, Chairman Eket LGA and Rt. Hon. Chief Nduese Essien, the Political Leader of Eket Senatorial District, will be on ground to host the journalists in Eket.

Interacting with newsmen in Eket, Mkpisong Frank Archibong, commended the Amos Etuk NUJ leadership and tasked journalists to shun bias reportage and to always engage professionalism in their reportage. He pledged his support to the union and promised to join them during the thanksgiving service in Eket.

The union therefore invites stakeholders, top government functionaries, senior citizens and members of the public to its 2024 thanksgiving service to mark the beginning of the year.
