As part of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration, the Akwa Ibom State government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, organized an Interdenominational Christian Worship Service at the International Worship Center, Uyo.

The event, attended by a high-powered delegation led by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, featured the presence of top military brass, retired and serving Armed Forces officers, and diverse Nigerians.

Governor Umo Eno, represented by Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, expressed gratitude for the success of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration, emphasizing the purpose of the gathering to give thanks, honor, and remember the Legionnaires while praying for those in active service.

Acknowledging the crucial role of Service Commanders, the Governor sought continued cooperation for total security in the state, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare of Legionnaires, their widows’ wing, and those in active service.

In her thanksgiving, Commissioner Dr. Ini Adiakpan appreciated God for the program’s success, prayed for a grand finale on January 15, 2024, and acknowledged the state government’s commitment to Legionnaires’ well-being.

She thanked God for how far he has brought the Legionnaires and the widows in life, keeping them alive to be a part of this year’s Armed forces Remembrance Celebration.

The Honourable Commissioner, while appreciating the State Governor, Umo Eno and his dear wife , Pastor Patience Umo Eno said their administration is particular about the well being of the Legionnaires’ widows and congratulated them for staying strong and taking care of their children, assuring that His Excellencies was solidly behind them.

Reverend Dr. Ndueso Ekwere delivered a homily on “Reward for Service,” emphasizing the earthly and heavenly rewards for dedicated service. He encouraged all Armed Forces members and believers to serve the Lord wholeheartedly for an everlasting crown of glory.

The service included prayers for Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, the Armed Forces, fallen heroes, and widows.

Dignitaries present included Deputy Speaker AKSH-Rt. Hon Kufre Abasi Edidem, Major Gen K. E. Chigbu, M. Ide, EI Noah, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, Mrs. Obot Bassey, Rev I. N George, General Koko Essien, Elder Aniefiok Nkom, Dr. Linus Nkan, and others. The ceremony concluded with prayers for unity, peace, and continued progress in Akwa Ibom State.
