Fulham notched a narrow 1-0 victory over Rotherham United in the latest round of the 2024 FA Cup at Craven Cottage. A stunning long-range strike from Bobby De Cordova-Reid proved the difference between the English Premier League high-flyers and their Championship opponents.
The Jamaica international pounced on a defensive mistake in the 24th minute before firing an unstoppable shot into the top corner from outside the box. It was De Cordova-Reid’s second goal in as many games, having also netted the winner against Arsenal last Sunday.
Marco Silva’s men dominated proceedings, with Andreas Pereira and Kenny Tete both hitting the woodwork in the first half. Rotherham offered little going forward, unable to seriously test the Fulham defence despite a couple of half-chances.
The second half saw Fulham continue to control possession, though Issa Diop nearly added a wonder goal from defence in the 76th minute. His mazy run and strike clipped the outside of the post.
In the end, De Cordova-Reid’s moment of magic was enough to clinch Fulham’s passage to the next round. The win keeps Silva’s side alive on two cup fronts ahead of their League Cup semi-final against Liverpool.
