The Akwa Ibom State Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission (EARCOM) wants citizens to shun social vices and rather reflect on ways they can make extraordinary contributions to the States development in 2024.
This was the submissions made in the New Year message to citizens during the programme, EARCOM Hour, monitored on Premium 89.9 fm, Abak on Wednesday.
Hon. Sir Ubong Ekefre and Hon. Goodnews Ediene, who featured on the programme charged Akwa Ibom people to see the New Year as another opportunity to contribute more meaningfully to the success of the Arise Agenda vision of the Pastor Umo Eno led administration, for a more united, peaceful and prosperous future.
EARCOM, they said, wants citizens to be more socially responsible and shun social vices including, cultism, drug abuse, gender based violence, rape, child trafficking, hoarding, economic sabotage, cyber-bullying, vandalism of public property, kidnapping, blackmail, bribery and corruption among other forms of criminal behaviour.
They tasked citizens to be patriotic and align with the prevailing unity in the State across party and ethnic lines championed by Governor Umo Eno, while fostering collaborative efforts to ensure the vision of a greater Akwa Ibom State is realised in 2024.
Sir Ekefre who said the Commission remains optimistic that the New Year holds greater glory for Akwa Ibom State in particular and Nigeria as a whole, called for deep reflection and repositioning by all citizens so as to do away with the vices that plagued the society and undermined her drive for economic growth.
