Fubara Appoints Former Speaker Ehie As Rivers Chief Of Staff

Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State, has announced the appointment of Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, the immediate-past Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as his new Chief of Staff.

Ehie, a staunch supporter of Governor Fubara, takes over from Hon. Chidi Amadi, who was previously in the role and is a relative of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

The former speaker tendered his resignation from both his position as Speaker and as the representative for Ahoada-East Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly on Sunday night. This move has raised questions about the political motivations behind his decision.

It’s worth noting that during a peace meeting facilitated by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, parties had agreed to recognize Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule as the new Speaker of the House. However, there was no provision in the resolution mandating Ehie to vacate his seat as a member of the House.
