President Bola Tinubu has issued a stern directive to security agencies to halt the ongoing carnage in Plateau State, which has claimed more than 155 lives.
A statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, added that President Tinubu also tasked security agencies to intensify the pursuit of those responsible for the waste of so many lives.
The murderous attacks, which affected about 23 villages across Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi council areas, occurred between Saturday evening and Christmas day morning, leaving several other persons injured and property destroyed.
President Tinubu gave the directives to security agencies on Tuesday during a meeting with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) at his residence in Lagos, reiterating his condemnation of the latest killings the State.
Condoling with the victims, President Tinubu emphasized the sanctity of human life and called for a paradigm shift among those with contrary beliefs, cautioning them about the inevitable consequences of their actions.
“Nigeria needs peace and stability to move forward. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and we have to take care of it,” he said.
He observed that the federal and sub-national governments of Nigeria have the mutual responsibility of ensuring the country’s peace and stability.
