Rivers United Suffer Big Loss To Club Africain In CAF Confederation Cup

Rivers United hopes of reaching the knockout rounds of the CAF Confederation Cup were dealt a huge blow on Wednesday after a first-half brace by Nigeria striker Kingsley Eduwo consigned them to a 3-0 defeat at Club Africain.

Tunisian Club Africain thus consolidated their group leadership to nine points, while Rivers United remain third on six points from four matches.

Dreams FC of Ghana are second also on nine points after they thrashed pointless APC Lobito from Angola 4-0 at home.

In Tunis on Wednesday night, former CHAN Eagles striker Eduwo hit target in the seventh and 45 minutes, before Rami Bedoui increased the tally in the 69th minute for Club Africain to win at home.

Rivers United will have to beat Dream FC at home and APC Lobito FC in their return to be sure of quarter-final ticket.
