The Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno was among eminent Nigerians who thronged the ancient city of Calabar, Cross River State, Saturday to pay their last respects to the departed National Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Late Prof. Stella Effah Attoe.
In a condolence message read by the Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi, who represented him at the event, the Governor acknowledged the contributions of the deceased to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), particularly during the last general elections.
“The Late Professor Attoe, a brilliant academic, a mobiliser of immense depth and skills, was until her sad passing, the National Woman Leader of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. In her position, she helped galvanize women across the length and breadth of this nation and worked tirelessly during the last presidential election.” He noted.
Pastor Umo Eno also acknowledged the contributions of the deceased to the development of Cross River State, particularly during her stints as Commissioner For Education and later Information, praying God to grant her soul eternal repose.
Among those who also paid glowing tributes to the departed Professor were former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Lyel Imoke who spoke on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Party and the acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum.
The event was attended by prominent Nigerians, Party faithful and leaders across the nation.
