…Set to confer Professional, Special Awards to deserving members, others.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council is set to hold its 2023 Press week and Awards Ceremony.
A release jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the NUJ, Comrade Amos Etuk and Comrade Dominic Akpan and the Chairman, 2023 Press Week Planning Committee, Comrade Helen Udofa and Secretary, Comrade Margaret Udondem, indicates that the 5-day events will begin on Monday, December 4 with a seminar on the theme: “Development Journalism: Setting the agenda on Climate Change”.
The seminar to be declared open by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Elder Udeme Otong, will be chaired by , Senator Effiong Bob, while Prof. Nsikak Benson is the keynote speaker.
The medical outreach for members of the union sponsored by the SA to the Governor on Special Projects, Mr Emmanuel Ekpenyong, starts by 8 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, December 5.
On Wednesday December 6, indoor sporting games such as Tennis, Ludo, Chess, scramble and draft sponsored by Elder Paul Bassey, will take place at the NUJ Center, Information Drive, Uyo.
As part of activities for the 2023 Press week, there will be an Evening with the Legends on Thursday, December 7 still at the NUJ Center.
The grand finale of the celebration of the 2023 Press Week, according to the release, is the Award and Dinner Night fixed for Friday December 8 by 6pm at the new NUJ Hall, Information Drive, Uyo.
The State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno is expected at the event as the Special Guest of Honour.
Chairman on the occasion is the Special Adviser to Senate President on Media and Publicity, National Assembly, Mr. Eseme Eyibo, while the immediate past member for Etinan Federal Constituency, at the green chambers, Barrister Onofiok Luke, will be the special guest of honour.
All NUJ members are requested to attend the programmes on time.
