The Akwa Ibom government has launched the festivities for the 2023 Christmas season, aligning with its commitment to developing the culture and tourism industry.

At a vibrant ceremony held at Uyo’s Christmas Park on Udo Udoma Avenue, Governor Pastor Umo Eno, represented by his wife Pastor (Mrs) Patience Eno, emphasized that this year’s Christmas events would be unlike any previous editions. The park will be open for 32 days, with each of the state’s 31 local government areas showcasing their unique culture and talents on designated days.

The Governor emphasized that the event aims to promote and support indigenous artists while fostering commerce and other activities that will benefit the state in the short and long term.

Expressing his pride in the upcoming celebration, Governor Eno thanked Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, and his team for their diligent efforts in bringing the event to life and translating the vision into reality.

“I am thrilled to be here. Our state is about to make history once again. Over the course of 32 days, there will be a multitude of exciting activities, ensuring the finest entertainment and celebration,” Governor Eno stated.

In his remarks, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, lauded the Governor for providing a significant platform to showcase, promote, and support indigenous artists.

He assured that the event is meticulously organized to cater to everyone’s satisfaction, offering a diverse range of cuisine, cultural displays, comedy shows, musical performances, and much more.

Udoh took the opportunity to extend an invitation to both Akwa Ibomites and visitors from around the world to experience the Christmas Park and explore the state’s other captivating tourist sites.
