The Emir of Kontagora, Alhaji Muhammadu Mu’azu has been installed as the pioneer Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State.
In his speech after the installation, Alhaji Mu’azu promised to use his experience as a first class Emir to attract development to the new institution.
The Emir who immediately introduced a reward for excellence performances, tagged ” Chancellor’s Award of Excellence” said the aim was to encourage academic excellence and promote the culture of hard work among the students of the institution.
He thanked the Federal Government for finding him worthy of the appointment pledging his total commitment in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno described the appointment of the Emir as most appropriate urged him to consider himself as an indigene of Akwa Ibom State and work towards making the University a great citedel of learning.
The Governor represented by the Deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi promised to give the Chancellor all necessary support to enable him succeed.
The Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi Akwa FUTIA was established in 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari as one of the newly Federal University created across the country to increase access to tertiary education.
